More than 40,000 women in Ahmedabad are in for a treat as they’ll be receiving free passes for the opening ceremony and the first match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad. This exciting news comes as a result of the government’s plan to take these 40,000 women to the world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium, for the inaugural match of the tournament, preceded by a grand opening ceremony.

They have sent out WhatsApp invitations to each ward across the city. In each ward, 800 lucky women have been invited to attend both the match and the opening ceremony, scheduled to take place on October 4th, a Wednesday. This initiative was launched due to the high demand for match tickets, which sold out within minutes.

It’s important to note that this special offer is exclusively for women. To register for this exciting opportunity, women simply need to send their name, address, and mobile number over WhatsApp to the general secretary of their ward. Additionally, the registrants have been instructed to make their way to the match independently.
