Chaos erupts as ICC World Cup ticket sales roll out

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces BookMyShow as the Ticketing Platform for the Prestigious ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on August 23. The sale of tickets for the much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 began on August 25 for users of Mastercard which is ICC’s commercial partner. ICC had announced previously that it would be carried out in a phrase-wise manner until September 15. And before that, fans have to register themselves on the World Cup website.

The schedule for the pre-sale of tickets is as follows-

24^th August from 6 PM IST onwards: Mastercard Pre-sale – All Non-India event matches excluding warm-up games

29^th August from 6 PM IST onwards: Mastercard Pre-sale – All India matches excluding warm-up games

14^th September from 6 PM IST onwards: Mastercard Pre-Sale – Semi-Finals and Final

The ticket sales for all other:

25^th August from 8 PM IST onwards: Non-India Warm-Up matches and all Non-India event matches

30^th August from 8 PM IST onwards: India matches at Guwahati and Trivandrum

31^st August from 8 PM IST onwards: India matches at Chennai, Delhi and Pune

1^st September from 8 PM IST onwards: India matches at Dharamsala, Lucknow and Mumbai

2^nd September from 8 PM IST onwards: India matches at Bengaluru and Kolkata

3^rd September from 8 PM IST onwards: India match at Ahmedabad

15^th September from 8 PM IST onwards: Semi-Finals and Final

On Tuesday, August 29, at 6 p.m. local time, ticket sales for India matches got available for Mastercard users. However the process turned out to be a chaotic experience for the fans, they encountered multiple crashes at the booking platform and also had to wait for a long period to confirm their tickets. This window was only available for Mastercard users, who had the advantage of booking tickets before others, with the actual window for the tickets slated to begin from Wednesday evening onwards as mentioned. The users say the site crashed a couple of times while most of them were asked to wait for 3 to 4 hours or even more to confirm their booking.
