Controversial ‘Pee Stain Denim’ jeans sparks debate and disbelief on social media

The fashion industry has gone through some trendy experimental phases like nudity propagation and ‘ugly’ dressing but people can bring some fresh ideas like that of expensive and highly hyped clothes like Balenciaga Lays bags or Gucci’s Rs 2.5 lakh Kurta,Hermes Birkin bags etc. The brand, JordanLuca which is a creation of designers, Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto has gained popularity and traction with a pair of unique jeans, now known online as ‘Pee Stain denim’, ignited talks on social media streams among the fashion aficionados.

The “Stain Stonewash Jeans,” appeared on the runway of their fall/winter 2023 show. These are washed with makeup stains around the groin, giving the impression that the person wearing them had wet themselves. It is bizarre that the original jeans sold at $811 (about ₹67,600) while the faded version that is at the moment not available for purchase was tagged for $608 (approximately Rs 50,000).

 The Brand described the jeans as “The Stain jeans feature a stonewash stain on the crotch and the Demonology horn detail embroidered on each back pocket, making them the ultimate JordanLuca denim piece. The jeans are high rise with a tapered leg, ensuring a perfect fit.”However, these jeans have received mixed reviews, with many expressing their thoughts on social media about this unique denim creation.

One person expressed, “How much have fashion standards declined if pee-stained jeans are now considered trendy?” Another remarked, “Just when you think you’ve seen everything, something like this comes along.” A third commenter questioned, “Who is the target audience for these jeans, and what is the appeal?” Another person also tweeted “I had so many of these in first grade. Who would’ve thought they’d be worth money one day?” 

This is not the first time a brand has become viral with their weirdly selections of clothing. A year ago in 2021, a brand named LEJE was the talk of social media with its jeans that she had designed. The brand offered two styles of ripped jeans: The first one is titled ’Slashed’ and is $375 (almost ₹31,000) while the other is named ‘L’ and sells for $475 (approximately ₹39,000). The designer JordanLuca  and their jean product “pee stain denim” has become subject of after it faced much criticism online. The surprising form of their design has elicited different spectrums of reactions. Through this, fashion has presented its strength to trigger dialogue.
