However, his comparison has drawn criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Chief Minister of Assam responded to Pitroda’s comments, affirming his Indian identity and emphasizing the unity in the country’s diversity. He called for a better understanding of India’s diverse nature.

Kangana Ranaut, an actress and politician running for a parliamentary seat with the BJP, criticized Pitroda’s recent comments as divisive and racist. She accused him and his political leadership of promoting a divide-and-rule policy and expressed disgust at how Indians were being categorized based on their foreign nationalities.

Earlier, Pitroda had sparked controversy with his views on inheritance tax in the United States and the broader issue of wealth distribution. His party distanced themselves from these remarks, while the BJP strongly criticized the head of the Indian Overseas Congress.
