Nina Singh: The Central Industrial Security Force’s First Female Chief

According to the decree, she has been assigned to the position until her retirement on July 31, 2024.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has finally appointed its first female commander. Nina Singh was promoted to Director General of the paramilitary force on Thursday.

Notably, the CISF protects approximately 356 industrial units (13 of which are private), government infrastructure projects, and airports. The Ministry of Home Affairs is in charge of the force.

Nina Singh: Who Is She?

Nina Singh is a Rajasthan cadre IPS officer from the 1989 batch. Singh is now the Special Director General of the CISF. According to the decree, she has been assigned to the position until her retirement on July 31, 2024. She takes over for Vice President Sheel Vardhan Singh.

The CISF was established on March 15, 1969, by an Act of the Parliament of India. On June 15, 1983, another Act of Parliament established it as an armed force of India. The CISF is also very significant in disaster management.

Meanwhile, Anish Dayal Singh, the Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), has been named as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Notably, the Cabinet Appointments Committee accepted Singh’s nomination as DG, CRPF until December 31, 2024.

Rahul Rasgotra, now a special director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), will take over as the next ITBP chief, succeeding Anish. Rasgotra, a Manipur cadre IPS officer from the 1989 batch, has been assigned to the position until September 30, 2025.
