What makes January 22nd, the selected date for Ram Mandir Consecration special?

The time frame coincides with 'Amrit Siddhi Yoga' and 'Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga,' according to Mahant Govind Dev Giri.

The devotion and excitement across the country is virtually apparent as the day of the Ram Temple dedication event approaches. The Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony will take place on January 22 at 12.20 p.m., in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other senior officials from the country, as well as dignitaries from other countries, will attend the ceremony.

Have you ever pondered why the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust decided to enthrone Ram Lalla in the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram Temple at noon on January 22? Here’s why.

The ceremonies for the gala event will begin on January 15, a day after Makar Sankranti.

January 22 is a sacred date for the Pran Pratishtha because it coincides with the favourable ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra’, ‘Amrit Siddhi Yoga’, and ‘Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga’ timings.

The treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Mahant Govind Dev Giri, reportedly informed The Times Of India that according to the panchang (almanack), ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra’ would begin at 3.52 p.m. on Monday, January 22, and last until 4.58 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23.

This time frame also coincides with ‘Amrit Siddhi Yoga’ and ‘Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga,’ according to Giri. According to him, the occasion is most suited for the Pran Pratistha (consecration) ritual.

The Trust had previously stated that Ram Lalla would ride in a customised chariot around Ayodhya in a spectacular parade before the consecration event.

The event will be supervised by scholars from Kashi (also known as Varanasi or Banaras).

Puja, yagya, havan, and aarti will be done at monasteries and temples across the country on the day of the consecration event.

Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust, recently correlated the date (January 22, 2024) to India’s Independence Day, August 15th. “January 22, 2024, is as important as August 15, 1947. It is equally important as getting Kargil back, and as much as the detention of a lakh soldiers was important in 1971,”  Champat Rai remarked.

The people of Ayodhya are delighted with the temple’s construction, which has become an “instrument to unite India,” he allegedly told ANI.

“There is a feeling of satisfaction. The people of Ayodhya, small princely states of the neighbourhood, priests, teachers and all the saints from all over India after 1983, started getting associated with it. The subject which was limited only to Ayodhya has become the subject of the respect of the entire country,” he stated.
