Madhya Pradesh CM calls for public input to prevent dog maulings in future

This development takes place in the wake of a horrifying dog attack in Bhopal which resulted in the death of an infant

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is seeking suggestions from the people of the state to address the issue of stray dogs following a tragic incident in which a 7-month-old boy was mauled to death. The child was attacked by a pack of dogs in Bhopal’s Ayodhya Nagar, and a video capturing the gruesome incident, where his arm was severed, has circulated widely on social media.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Chief Minister Yadav has called for public input to develop effective measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts and ideas from the community to tackle the menace of stray dogs.

In response to the heartbreaking incident, Chief Minister Yadav has directed officials to provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the bereaved family. The family, who are laborers from Guna district, will receive support to cope with the emotional and financial challenges they are facing in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Despite the family having conducted the last rites of the child on Wednesday, the body was exhumed, and a post-mortem examination was carried out on Saturday. This step was taken to gather necessary information and insights into the circumstances surrounding the attack, as well as to ensure a thorough investigation.

Ayodhya Nagar inspector Mahesh Nilhare provided details of the incident, explaining that the child’s mother had placed him on the ground while she worked nearby. A pack of dogs, lurking in the vicinity, attacked the defenseless child. This tragic event highlights the urgent need for measures to address the stray dog population and enhance safety in public spaces.

In response to the incident, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation took immediate action by capturing eight stray dogs from Ayodhya Nagar. Simultaneously, the local collector has issued directives to launch a campaign aimed at catching such animals. This proactive approach by the authorities reflects a commitment to ensuring the safety of the community and preventing further incidents.

The involvement of the community in providing suggestions and ideas is crucial for the success of any initiative aimed at curbing the stray dog menace. Chief Minister Yadav’s call for public input demonstrates a recognition of the collective responsibility to address this issue effectively. It is an opportunity for individuals to contribute valuable insights and innovative solutions to create safer environments for everyone.
