China shields terrorist Hafiz Talah Saeed, puts hold on proposal to blacklist him at UN

The proposal to blacklist Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed’s son was made by India and US together.

China has yet again poked its nose into affairs it should keep away from and rather come out and support openly as it came to safeguard Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed’s son Hafiz Talah Saeed from getting blacklisted in the United Nations.

Beijing has been consistently on a roll to put a hold on various joint proposals by India and the US to designate certain members of the dreaded terror outfit as global terrorists. Hafiz Talha Saeed the son of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed was declared a terrorist by the Indian Home Ministry in the earlier half of 2022.

Just two days prior to the latest event, the Chinese on technical grounds had put a similar blockade to label Shahid Mahmood who also belongs to the atrocious LeT as a global terrorist under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council. This is the fifth such incident in just four months’ time when China has intervened in listing proposals to designate Pakistan-based terror outfits and their terrorists under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee regime.

The Union Home Ministry of India in a notification brought out in April mentioned Hafiz Talha Saeed as being actively involved in recruitment and funding along with the execution of attacks via horrendous plans laid down by the LeT in India and Indian interests in Afghanistan. Saeed features regularly in LeT centers across Pakistan where he propagates and instigates jihad against India, Israel, the US and other western nations while delivering sermons in the capacity of the head of the cleric wing of the terrorist organization.
