One97 Communications Limited (OCL), the company that owns Paytm, announced the launch of its groundbreaking ‘Card Soundbox’ on Monday. This new device by Paytm aims to transform in-store card payments by combining Soundbox technology with near field communication (NFC) for contactless mobile and debit/credit card transactions.
Device Offers Instant Audio-Visual Confirmation for Payments
The Paytm Card Soundbox is the first Soundbox in India capable of accepting contactless card payments. It allows users to tap and pay using their NFC-enabled smartphones and cards. The device provides instant audio and visual confirmation for payments through its LCD display and built-in speaker.
The audio alerts are available in 11 languages and can be customized by merchants through the Paytm for Business app. This caters well to diverse merchant needs across the country.
Accepts Payments Across Major Card Networks
Through the tap and pay feature, the Card Soundbox allows merchants to accept mobile and card payments seamlessly across major card networks like Visa, Mastercard, American Express and RuPay.
The NFC technology aids small businesses and merchants to grow by enhancing in-store transactions and payment acceptance.
Made in India Device With Enhanced Features in paytm
The Paytm Card Soundbox is designed and manufactured in India. It supports contactless transactions up to ₹5,000 through its tap and pay functionality.
The device operates on a 4G network to ensure fast processing of payment alerts. It is equipped with a long-lasting battery that provides up to 5 days of usage on a single charge.
The in-built 4W speaker enables clear audio notifications for merchants and customers. It also has an LCD display for visual confirmations.
Facilitates Seamless Digital Payments for Merchants
As per Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the Card Soundbox solves two major challenges for small and medium businesses – accepting card payments and getting instant audio confirmation for transactions.
It aligns with Paytm’s focus on using technology to simplify payments for merchants. The device combines POS terminal, QR code scanner and Soundbox features in a single innovative product to promote digital transactions.
