Japan steps up its moon exploration efforts

Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is gearing up for a significant milestone as the X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) spacecraft, along with the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM), is scheduled for liftoff on August 26th.

XRISM (X-ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission) is a powerful X-ray telescope that will be used to examine the new, lively regions of the universe, collectively with black holes and neutron stars. It will also be used to take a look at the moon’s atmosphere and surface. SLIM (Small Lunar Impactor) is a small, lander. It can be used to test new technologies for upcoming missions.
