PM Modi’s gifts up for e-auction, prices range from ₹100 to ₹64 lakh: Know how you can buy them

Among the mementos on sale, a painting of the Banaras Ghat tops the list with a price tag of ₹64,80,000.

An extensive collection of gifts and mementos that were presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are now up for e-auction. These items displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art, reflect the rich cultural, traditional, and artistic legacy of India. Now these valuable mementos are at your fingertips through an e-auction, organized by the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), a branch of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 

Exhibition and e-auction 

The exhibition that started on Monday gives visitors a chance to explore a variety of these gifts and mementos. As announced in a social media post, PM Modi shared pictures from the exhibition and mentioned that these treasures are indeed representative of India’s rich cultural and traditional heritage.

“Starting today, an exhibition at the NGMA will display a wide range of gifts and mementoes given to me over the recent past. Presented to me during various programs and events across India, they are a testament to the rich culture, tradition and artistic heritage of India,” stated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post on the microblogging site. Furthermore, he shared that the funds raised through the auction would aid the Namami Gange project. 

Items for Auction and Bidding Details 

Among the mementos on sale, a painting of the Banaras Ghat tops the list with a price tag of ₹64,80,000. The collection also includes over 900 paintings, native handicrafts, detailed sculptures, and captivating folks. At this auction, the starting price ranges are from as low as ₹100 to a staggering ₹64 lakh. As it stands, 150 of these items are on display at the National Gallery of Modern Art in the capital. Note: the e-auction is exclusively for resident Indians. 

Steps to Participate in the Auction 

  • Registration: New buyers need to click “Buyer Signup” and fill in the required details like Mobile Number, Email address, and Password. Post verification via OTP, additional details such as Name, Gender, Date of Birth, and Address are required.
  • Login: Using registered credentials, the buyer can login.
  • Aadhaar Authentication: The buyer’s Aadhar number would be authenticated.
  • Browse Item Catalogue: Post login, buyers can browse through the catalog of available auction items, including those in ‘Live Auctions.’
  • Add to Cart: The buyer can choose a product, add it to the cart, and specify the bidding amount.
  • Participate in the Auction: The buyer can then engage actively in the ongoing auction.
  • Payment: The highest bidder can proceed with the payment upon approval from the department user. The item will then be delivered to an address within the country.

All proceeds from the e-auction will go towards the Ganga Rejuvenation initiative, an integral part of the “Namami Gange Programme”, dedicated to the rejuvenation of the Ganges River. This is an opportunity not just to own a piece of India’s rich heritage but also to contribute to a significant cause.
