Mumbai will soon see implementation of a climate resilient project

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis put up the notion to implement this technique in Japan in August of this year.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated in a post on X Tuesday that a group of JICA specialists had made inspections to the Love Grove pumping station and the Mithi River.

The civic body’s recent mitigation efforts for Mumbai’s flooding problems were explained to the JICA delegates by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), P Velrasu, and Former Municipal Commissioner, Praveen Pardeshi.

Additionally, civic authorities stated that the project’s goal is to address challenges associated with climate change. While in Japan in August of this year, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis put up the notion to implement this technique.

The effects of climate change

Scientists worry that in addition to increasing the frequency of floods and wildfires, climate change may also cause alterations in people’s brain chemistry. In an article that was published in the scholarly journal “Nature Climate Change,” researchers from all around the world worked together to demonstrate how brain function may be impacted by global warming in the near future.

Lead author Dr. Kimberly C. Doell of the University of Vienna stated: “We’ve known for a long time that environmental factors can cause changes in the brain.”

However, the investigation into how climate change, the greatest threat to the world today, may alter human brain function is still in its early stages.

The last year has seen a renewed emphasis on public health implications of climate change by scientists and policymakers. During the G20 meetings in September that were held in Goa, Mumbai, and Delhi, the topic was extensively discussed.

According to WHO predictions, by 2050, the effects of climate change on public health would be so great that 2.5 lakh additional people will die each year from malaria, heat, diarrhoea, and undernourishment.
