Gurugram traffic police announces a hefty charge for blocking fire trucks and ambulances

Those who hinder the path of emergency service vehicles will promptly receive digital challans, according to the DCP

The law enforcement authorities in Gurugram have declared a penalty of ₹10,000 for those obstructing the passage of emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks during heavy traffic. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Gurugram, Virender Vij, stated that traffic police officers in the area would document such occurrences on video.

Those who hinder the path of emergency service vehicles will promptly receive digital challans, according to the DCP. These challans will be accompanied by a video recording of the incident. The fine for this violation, as per Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act, is ₹10,000. This measure aims to assist critically ill patients being transported to various hospitals in ambulances.

Vij further mentioned that the Gurugram traffic police are already facilitating green corridors for ambulances transporting organs for transplants to different hospitals, thereby aiding critically ill patients.

In addition, the traffic police have intensified their enforcement of road safety regulations on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. As of December last year, commercial vehicles that occupy the first two right lanes of the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, from the Kherki Daula toll to the Sirhaul border, will be penalized ₹500. A second violation will result in a fine of ₹1,500.

Vij, the DCP of traffic, also convened a meeting with high-ranking officials to disseminate information about the newly implemented rules on the expressway. He advised transporters to instruct their drivers to adhere to the rules and avoid the first two lanes.
