Vikrant Massey reveals brother’s conversion at 17, calls religion ‘Man-Made’

Actor Vikrant Massey has recently opened up about his family including his elder brother Moeen and personal beliefs during a recent interview with Unfiltered by Samdish. The conversation touched upon the diverse religious and cultural traditions present within his household.

Massey shared details about his upbringing, highlighting his family’s accepting approach towards individual religious choices. He spoke about his brother Moeen’s conversion to Islam at the age of 17, stating, “My family let him change his religion. They said, ‘Beta, if you find satisfaction in this, then go ahead.”

Despite facing criticism from extended relatives, Vikrant’s father firmly supported Moeen’s decision, saying his son’s right to choose his path. Vikrant recalled, “My father was questioned by my extended relatives about how he could ‘allow’ that (brother’s conversion). He said that was none of their business.”

After seeing this, Vikrant began his own journey, contemplating the idea of religion. It was man-made. 

As he stepped into his role as a husband and father, Vikrant shared his and his wife Sheetal Thakur’s plan to teach their child rationalism while also valuing cultural traditions. He emphasized his appreciation for certain aspects of Hindu culture, saying, “Especially in Hindu culture, I do believe in them. It’s because of my cultural ties.”

Vikrant also pointed out how different religious practices peacefully coexist in his family. He said, “My father attends church twice a week, but he also participates in puja with my mother and my wife,” showing the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere at home.

Vikrant recently became a father. He and Sheetal welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on February 7, 2024. The couple shared their joy through a heartfelt announcement, featuring a photo of a letter expressing their excitement about parenthood.

Professionally, Vikrant continues to charm the public with his talent and versatility. His role in the film “12th Fail,” directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, attracted critical acclaim and solidified his reputation as one of the industry’s finest actors.
