By launching an AI Chatbot for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme, the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, made great progress in improving the welfare of farmers. The Chatbot, which is currently accessible in English, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, and Tamil, will soon be available in all 22 official languages of the nation, making it even more inclusive and available to farmers all over the country.
The PM-KISAN Scheme
In order to meet the financial needs of Indian land-holding farmers, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi
(PM-KISAN) government programme was introduced in February 2019. The programme provides eligible farmer households with a yearly financial benefit of Rs 6,000 in three equal payments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. One of the largest DBT programmes worldwide, it has distributed approximately Rs. 2.61 Lakhs Crores to more than 11 Crore farmers since its beginning. The Indian government has also created a smartphone application that has a facial authentication-based e-KYC capability. This app is the first mobile app to deploy an e-KYC feature based on facial authentication in a government benefit programme. The Google Play store makes it simple to download this mobile app, which is also quite simple to use. With the use of this software, a farmer may now complete his e-KYC from the comfort of his home, even in distant corners of the nation, without using an OTP or fingerprints, only by having his face scanned.
Additionally, they may help 100 additional farmers in their community complete e-KYC right at their door with their help. The Indian government has also given state government personnel the option to conduct e-KYC on 500 farmers, extending this capability to all government officials.
