Taylor Swift expected to break multiple records at Grammys 2024

She previously received the Album of the Year award for Fearless in 2009, again for 1989 six years later, and for Folklore in 2020.

Taylor Swift prepares for Sunday’s Grammys, where she might break the record for most Album of the Year award at a ceremony where women are finally taking centre stage. SZA will arrive at the star-studded event in Los Angeles as the evening’s top nominee with nine nominations, while Billie  Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Miley Cyrus are also up for top prizes.

The musical sensation, who is tied with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Stevie Wonder for the most wins among female solo artists, might create history on Sunday at the 66th annual event in Los Angeles with her album Midnights. She previously received the award for Fearless in 2009, again for 1989 six years later, and for Folklore in 2020.

The 34-year-old will also be trying to break the record for most-nominated artist who has never won a song of the year award, after receiving her seventh nomination this year for the single Anti-Hero. Swift received six Grammy Award nominations, including best pop solo performance and record of the year for Anti-Hero, as well as best pop vocal album for Midnights.

It comes after the US singer-songwriter went on the highest-grossing tour of all time and published a film about it called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which prompted a ticket-buying frenzy.

She was also selected Time’s Person of the Year, re-released her smash album 1989 (Taylor’s version), which had the largest opening week of any album published in the UK last year, and kept the rumour industry going with her new relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The 34-year-old famous NFL player said that he will not be attending the Grammys to support Swift ahead of the Super Bowl after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Swift’s popular producer Jack Antonoff received six nominations for his work, particularly with her and Del Rey, the baroque pop singer whose album “Did you know there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” got her five nominations.

And the soundtrack of the blockbuster film “Barbie” might potentially clean up: music from the effervescent summer smash scored 11 nominations, courtesy to performances by Eilish, Dua Lipa, rapper Nicki Minaj, and the film’s sleeper hit… Ryan Gosling is an Oscar-nominated actor.

Ice Spice, a bubbly Bronx rapper, is also up for an award for her work on “Barbie” as well as the prize for Best New Artist, which industry watchers believe she will win after a banner year in which she went completely viral.

The 2024 Grammy Awards, presented by Trevor Noah, will be televised live on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday (4 February).
