BSNL along with TCL will launch a homegrown 4G network on Independence Day 2022

While the entire telecom world is moving towards 5G, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited widely known as BSNL is finally stepping into the era of 4G connectivity. The state-owned telecom provider has gradually started rolling out the 4G connectivity.

India’s state telecom provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is making way for bringing 4G availability to its users this year.

The probable date for BSNL’s 4G rollout is August 15, 2022 – the Independence Day of India. India’s first locally developed 4G organisation, BSNL is falling behind its significant competitors who are presently laying the basis to carry out 5G services in the country.

India’s first indigenously developed 4G network

“BSNL will introduce 4G services with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as its technology partner. It will be for the first time that Indian technology will be used for 4G services,” BSNL’s consumer mobility director, Sushil Kumar Mishra told the press. Mishra noted that this would mark the entry of TCS in the telecom equipment manufacturing business in the country.

According to Mishra, BSNL is building 100,000 telecom towers in India to complete its 4G service outreach. “Instead of smart towers, BSNL will begin with monopoles, which are less expensive and more effective,” Mishra told the press.

Out of these, only 4,000 towers will be introduced in the territory of Bihar, with the network expected to be accessible in practically all significant urban communities of India. In October 2021, India’s Department of Telecom secretary said that he had the primary call to try out natively evolved 4G innovation on the BSNL network.

In the interim, other private administrators like Airtel, Jio, and Vi are outfitting to carry out 5G networks in different Indian urban areas. Whenever 5G first was proposed to Indians was in 2016.
