Sweet disputes turn sour: Wedding brawl over rasgullas; 6 hospitalised

Amidst the opulence of Indian weddings, unexpected brawls over trivial matters like the absence of rasgullas are on the rise, shedding light on the peculiar and sometimes volatile wedding dynamics.

It’s not uncommon to witness fights during weddings. There is seldom a moment of calm, from a minor disagreement between the bride’s sisters and the groom to a major fight between the two families.

In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a wedding had a sight like this. But you might be shocked to learn why the brawl occurred. According to PTI, there was a disagreement during the marriage about the lack of rasgullas.

Six people were hurt in the event, which happened in Shamshabad around midnight on Sunday. The cops stated they are in stable condition and are now being treated at a hospital.

The event resulted in six individuals suffering injuries, and a case has been filed, according to Station House Officer Anil Sharma. The patients are no longer in danger as they receive medical attention.” Speaking at the wedding reception, SHO Sharma claimed that someone made a remark about how hard it was to get rasgullas. This comment sparked a furious debate that turned into a full-on body fight.

Fights erupted over rasgullas at weddings rather frequently. In a 2017 instance that was similar, the groom’s side got into a heated argument with the bride’s father and other family members. The reason for this was because they were given a single rasgulla rather than two.

Since last year, there have been a lot of these instances. A quarrel over the lack of candy at a wedding in October 2022 claimed the life of the groom.

In December 2022, a brawl broke out in a video that went viral on Instagram, showing the bride and groom performing rituals on stage.

In Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, a wedding banquet was converted into a wrestling arena in February 2023. The reason for the fight was that the groom’s uncle was not served paneer, or cottage cheese, during the reception. On X, a video of the event that showed the wedding guests punching each other badly became viral.

Families and wedding guests are not the only people involved in conflicts. There are occasions when the bride and groom quarrel openly, spoiling their big day.

What was meant to be a romantic moment between the bride and groom in December 2022 descended into a fight. The bride was pushed back by the groom as he began forcingly giving her candy at the stage. The bride attacked the husband in retaliation, and he did not hesitate to strike her again, igniting a full-fledged brawl. Social media users frequently react positively to such occurrences and find them amusing.
