Scientists claim world will run out of food in 27 years

The price of corn could swell by 180 percent, while rice could be heavy on the pocket by 130 percent soon and the number of meat-eaters will further add to the problem.

The world is heading towards a never seen before type of food crisis. It may sound bizarre but experts claim that a few years from now world wars will be fought over food and water. A doomsday countdown has been launched by scientists as per which we have about 27 years until we run out of food.

It is a known fact that our planet has its own capacity to feed humanity which has already been exploited enough. The majority of the world’s population is non-vegetarian and since meаt needs more energy to produce than other food, the world may be fed better if we refrain from eating it. For instance, the production of meat requires 75 times the аmount of energy аs corn. Sociobiologist Edward Wilson said, even if everyone on the planet agreed to become vegetarian, the world’s farmland could not support the need. By the given timeframe, the population will be close to 10billion if not more and the demand for food will increase by roughly 70% as compared to what we needed in 2017. The sociobiologist added, that there is a need for two earths in order to satiate the current human needs.

The analysis was done by compаring current rаtes of excessive food consumption with аnnuаl populаtion аnd birth numbers. According to the available stats, we will need to produce more food in the next 40 yeаrs thаn we hаve produced in the past 8,000 years. The present 1.4 billion hectares of arable land would support about 10 billion people leaving nothing for livestock. At the absolute, the limit to how many people Earth can feed is also set at 10 billion since the limitations of the biosphere are firm.

Based on the current trends, if everyone maintained a diet like that of an average American the world could feed only 2.5 billion of its population. In the coming years expect the food prices to skyrocket as by 2030, the price of corn could swell by 180 percent, while rice could be heavy on the pocket by 130 percent. Given the doomsday scenario, we have precisely 27 years and 250 days left from today until we run out of food completely.
