Iran launches missile attack on Pakistan, kills 2 children
Iran has claimed that it was a precision missile and drone strike targeting strongholds of a Sunni militant group
In a recent incident that has further heightened tensions in the already volatile Middle East, Pakistan has strongly condemned an Iranian airstrike within its borders, leading to the tragic death of two children. The attack, described by Pakistan as an “unprovoked violation of its airspace,” has prompted warnings of retaliation.
Iran, on the other hand, claims to have conducted precision missile and drone strikes targeting two strongholds of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl (known as Jaish al-Dhulm in Iran) in the Koh-e-Sabz area of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The strikes follow Iran’s missile launches in northern Iraq and Syria the day before, marking a concerning escalation in hostilities.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry expressed its outrage, emphasizing the loss of innocent lives and warning Iran of serious consequences. The ministry criticized the airstrike as a violation of its airspace, highlighting the existence of communication channels between the two countries that seemingly went unheeded.
Despite the existence of diplomatic channels, Pakistan lodged a strong protest with a senior official in Iran’s Foreign Ministry, holding Iran responsible for the consequences. The Jaish al-Adl militant group claimed that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards used attack drones and rockets to destroy residences where the families of its fighters lived.
The tragic outcome of the airstrike in Pakistan includes the death of two girls, aged eight and 12, and injuries to at least four others. The village of Koh-e-Sabz, approximately 60 kilometers from Panjgur district, bore the brunt of the attack, with a mosque also reportedly targeted.
Koh-e-Sabz holds significance as the former residence of Jaish-ul-Adl’s second-in-command, Mullah Hashim, who was killed in clashes with Iranian forces in 2018. Last month, Iran accused Jaish al-Adl militants of an attack on a police station in Sistan and Baluchistan, resulting in the deaths of 11 Iranian police officers.
These recent developments unfold against the backdrop of broader regional tensions. Iran’s missile strikes in Iraq and Syria were purportedly in response to Israeli attacks that killed Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders. The strikes aimed at deterring security threats were defended by Iran as precise and targeted operations.

The United States criticized the strikes as reckless, emphasizing the need for addressing security concerns through dialogue rather than military actions. Iraq lodged a complaint with the UN Security Council, denying the presence of Mossad-affiliated centers in Erbil.
As the conflict intensifies, fears grow that Israel’s war in Gaza could expand into a full-scale regional conflict, with severe humanitarian, political, and economic consequences. The U.S. military has also launched new strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, further contributing to the complexity of the regional dynamics.
