Ministry of External Affairs issues advisory for Indian nationals in Iran and Israel

This comes after Iran has promised to take revenge for the airstrike that killed seven members of its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)

All Indian nationals are advised not to travel to Iran advisory released by the ministry of external affairs

All Indian nationals are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice, according to a travel advisory released by the ministry of external affairs on Friday. “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice,” the advisory read.

“All those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves. They are also requested to observe utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum,” the ministry added.

This comes after Iran has promised to take revenge for the airstrike that killed seven members of its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including two generals, on its embassy premises in Damascus on April 1.

According to Iran’s mission to the United Nations (UN), the UN Security Council’s condemnation of Israel’s attack would have prevented any military reaction from Iran in retaliation to the fatal Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran, spoke over the phone on Thursday with his counterparts in Germany, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke via phone to Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday. “Secretary Blinken reiterated the United States’ support for Israel’s security and made clear that the US will stand with Israel against any threats by Iran and its proxies,” the US Department of State said in a statement.

On the other hand, Antony Blinken also called counterparts including the Turkish, Chinese and Saudi foreign ministers “to make clear that escalation is not in anyone’s interest and that countries should urge Iran not to escalate,” according to the U.S. State Department. Next 24-48 hours are crucial for both the countries.
