UK opens India Young Professional Scheme 2024, 3,000 Indians to get UK visas

The first ballot for the India Young Professional Scheme 2024 will open today, February 20, 2024.
Under the IYP Scheme, the UK government will provide 3,000 Indians UK visas to study, work, or reside abroad. According to a tweet from the British High Commission in India, the poll will be launched today at 2:30 PM and will continue until February 22, 2024 at 2:30 PM.
The post goes on to say, “If you’re an Indian graduate who wants to live, work or study in the UK for up to 2 years, you can enter the ballot for a chance to apply for a visa.”

Application criteria
According to the official website of the IYP Scheme 2024 (gov.uk/india-young-professionals-scheme), there are 3,000 spaces available for obtaining a UK visa through the India Young Professional Scheme. It reads, “Most places will be made available in the February ballot. Remaining places will be made available in the July ballot.”
Interested candidates must provide their names, dates of birth, passport information, scanned pictures, phone numbers, and working email addresses.

To apply for the scheme, candidates must have the following qualifications

• Be an Indian national aged 18 to 30.
• When intending to travel to the United Kingdom, you must be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
• Have a savings of £2,530 (about Rs 2.6 lakh) to maintain oneself in the UK.
• Have no dependent children under the age of 18 living with you or for whom you are financially responsible.

Selection Process
To ensure fairness and objectivity, successful entries are selected by a random poll system. Candidates will get the results via email approximately two weeks after the ballot closes. Although there is no expense for entering the ballot, applicants should budget for any additional fees involved with getting a UK visa, such as the application fee and health premium. The visa application price is 298 pounds (about Rs 31,131). Candidates must consider their financial obligations when arranging their participation in the scheme.
