Elon Musk’s new Optimus Gen 2 robot can boil eggs and perform squats

The robot is a member of Tesla's robotics and AI department, and it prioritizes artificial intelligence.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a video of the company’s latest Optimus Gen 2 robot. The robot seems to be human-like at first glance and is capable of a range of functions such as cooking eggs and squatting.

Tesla’s most current robot is known as Optimus Gen 2, and it replaces Optimus Gen 1, which was unveiled in March. In comparison to Bumblebee, which debuted in September 2021, the year-over-year improvement appears to be accelerating.

This robot is a member of Tesla’s robotics and AI department, and it prioritizes artificial intelligence. When paired with inference hardware, the company says that this is the only way to create fully autonomous, bipedal.

As demonstrated in Mr. Musk’s video, they can perform full-fledged squats thanks to improved balance and full-body control over Gen 1. According to Tesla, the AI-powered can feel torque, walk quicker, and has the geometry of a human foot. Furthermore, the robot’s overall weight has lowered by 10 kg from the previous edition.

It goes one step further in the video, picking up an egg and placing it in a boiling gadget with its new, faster 11-DoF hands.  The two Tesla Optimus robots then surprise us in the end by demonstrating their hip dance abilities. Furthermore, the motions have good control over the fingers, arms, and lower body, which all move in sync.

This appears to be something out of a science fiction film. Consider receiving boiled eggs from your right before you leave for work in the not-too-distant future. Although it looks absurd at the time, with the advancement of bots like as Tesla Optimus, it appears quite likely in the future.
