Apple is planning to develop its own AI features: Reports

The company's decision to go completely on-device with its AI could become the speed breaker for its approach

Some reports suggest that Apple is developing AI features for its devices. It is rumoured that the tech giants will launch the AI strategy with its new IOS18 in June 2024 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event. According to a report planning to use an innovative way to integrate AI into its smartphones. Their entirely on-device AI project could make them faster, but less powerful than their rivals.

“Rather than touting the power of chatbots and other generative AI tools, has plans to show how the technology can help people in their daily lives,” said Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s report.

The company’s decision to go completely on-device with its AI could become the speed breaker for its approach. The report pointed out some loopholes in Apple’s project as the tech giant is likely to keep the AI features running within the device instead of on the cloud for privacy, this approach will, however, increase the speed but it will make it comparatively weak as compared to its rivals.

Apple

It is  rumored that Apple is joining hands with Google to tackle the problems in the project. Apple’s in-house large language model (LLM) could still struggle to compete with Open Ai’s GPT or Google’s Gemini as their capabilities and knowledge base them are currently unmatchable for Apple as it would be the first generation of the technology. However, it always surprises us with its technology so we never know what’s coming our way.
