Since assuming office in 2014, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has obtained the highest national awards from 14 countries. This is because of his important role worldwide and his skill in making friendships between two countries or regions even better. Under Modi’s leadership, India has become the voice of the Global South on the world stage. His emphasis on peaceful dialogue and diplomacy to address global issues has garnered praise.

Remarkably, one of the premier awards he collected in recent times was the prestigious Legion of Merit by the United States in December 2020. This royal decoration, gifted personally by the US, was given to recognize his extraordinary leadership and support for global peace.

Then, as recently as December 2021, the remote yet beautiful country of Bhutan gave him the Order of the Dragon King. This noble honor was given to him in light of his efforts in strengthening the bonds between India and Bhutan and strengthening regional cooperation.

Looking east, he received the Order of Fiji and the Order of Logohu from Papua New Guinea in May 2021. These honors from small but influential Pacific island countries support and show the widespread influence of his leadership.
