Kerala reaches out to Bangalore’s IT companies amidst water crisis, offers ample resources
As Bengaluru grapples with multifaceted challenges, Kerala aims to position itself as the next major IT destination for companies seeking growth and innovation
The city of Bengaluru is facing a water crisis, which has created an opportunity for neighboring states to attract IT companies by offering investment prospects. Kerala’s Industries and Law Minister, P. Rajevee, has reached out to several Multi-National Companies (MNCs) based in Bengaluru, urging them to consider relocating to Kerala. According to a report in The Economic Times, Minister Rajevee emphasized that Kerala has superior water resources compared to Karnataka, making it an ideal destination for significant investments.
In a conversation with the publication, Rajevee has explained their proactive approach: “Recognizing the severe water crisis in Bengaluru, we initiated discussions with IT companies, encouraging them to make the move to Kerala. Our state boasts meticulously planned water connectivity and abundant natural resources. We are committed to providing all necessary facilities to facilitate this transition.”
Minister Rajevee has a grand vision for Kerala, beyond addressing immediate water-related concerns. He aspires to transform the state into India’s new Silicon Valley. Ongoing discussions with select companies underscore Kerala’s potential as a thriving IT hub. As Bengaluru grapples with multifaceted challenges, Kerala aims to position itself as the next major IT destination for companies seeking growth and innovation. The Kerala government has even outlined plans to construct four new IT corridors along National Highway 66.
Interestingly, a few years ago, when Bengaluru’s crumbling infrastructure dominated headlines, KTR, then a Telangana minister, issued a bold invitation to start-ups: “Pack your bags and move to Hyderabad! Our city boasts superior physical infrastructure and an equally robust social framework. Our airport ranks among the best, and accessibility is a breeze. Most importantly, our government’s focus revolves around the three ‘i’ mantra: innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth.” KTR’s tweet, once shared on X (formerly Twitter), resonated with the entrepreneurial spirit and aspirations of those seeking a conducive environment for their ventures.
