Big wins at National Film Awards 2023: Rocketry, RRR best films, Alia and Kriti get best Actress and Allu Arjun best Actor

Exciting Wins for Sardar Udham, Chhelo Show, RRR, Pushpa The Rise, The Kashmir Files, and Gangubai Kathiawadi! The much-anticipated National Film Awards were revealed on Thursday, showcasing some impressive victories

The excitement was palpable as the 69th National Film Awards were recently revealed during a press conference hosted by the Jury at the National Media Center in New Delhi. This prestigious event recognized outstanding achievements in Indian cinema across various categories. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, received the esteemed list of winners from the Jury members, highlighting the excellence in feature films, non-feature films, and scriptwriting on cinema.

A staggering total of 280 films, spanning 28 different languages, were submitted for consideration for the 2021 awards. The competition was fierce, with 31 categories dedicated to feature films, 24 for non-feature films, and 3 for scriptwriting related to cinema.

The spotlight shone brightly on the winners of various categories, showcasing the diversity and depth of talent within the Indian film industry. Notably, ‘The Kashmir Files’ secured the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on national integration, underscoring cinema’s power to foster unity. The high-octane blockbuster ‘RRR’ clinched the award for Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment, reflecting its impact on audiences.

Among the celebrated actors, Alia Bhatt earned the Best Actress award for her compelling performance in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi,’ while Kriti Sanon’s role in ‘Mimi’ also secured the same honor. Allu Arjun’s impressive portrayal in ‘Pushpa’ earned him the Best Actor accolade, solidifying his place as a standout talent.

The accolades extended to supporting roles as well, with Pallavi Joshi’s contribution to ‘Kashmir Files’ and Pankaj Tripathi’s role in ‘Mimi’ earning them Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards, respectively. The creative minds behind the scenes also received recognition, as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s editing skills in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ were celebrated, and Devi Sri Prasad’s musical prowess in ‘Pushpa’ was acknowledged as the Best Music Director.

The film ‘RRR’ further distinguished itself by securing awards for Action Direction, Choreography, and Special Effects. The celebration of excellence extended to non-feature films as well, with the Garwali and Hindi film ‘Ek Tha Gaon’ securing the Best Non-Feature Film award.

In the language-specific categories, notable winners included the powerful “Sardar Udham” for Best Hindi Film, “Chhello Show” for Best Gujarati Film, “777 Charlie” for Best Kannada Film, “Boomba Ride” for Best Mishing Film, and “Anur” for Best Assamese Film, among others.

The 69th National Film Awards once again underscored the richness and diversity of Indian cinema, celebrating exceptional performances, storytelling, and technical excellence. The awards served as a reminder of the immense talent within the industry and the impact of cinema on culture and society :
