Woman slaps Haryana MLA during visit to flood-hit areas

Later the MLA said, "I won't be taking any legal action against the woman. I have forgiven her."

In a viral video, a woman was seen slapping Jannayak Janta Party’s MLA Ishwar Singh on Wednesday. The MLA was on his visit to flood-hit areas in Haryana when the flood victim slapped him. The incident took place in Kaithal’s Guhla area. The woman was a part of the crowd that gathered in the area after the arrival of the MLA of Guhla Cheeka constituency.

People were frustrated over the poor drainage system that resulted in the waterlogging. They were also furious about the delayed visit by Ishwar Singh. The angry woman then went on to slap the MLA. Locals could be heard saying in the viral video, “Why have you come now”. The MLA was then rescued by his security officers.

Ishwar Singh, while talking to the media later said, that he will not be pressing charges or taking any legal actions against the woman, as he has ‘forgiven her’. On the other hand, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced an ex-gratia to the kin of people who died in the floods. 10 people have lost their lives due to floods in Haryana and the CM fears that the toll could increase.

“Around 10 people have died in the floods so far, but the number may increase, 2 are missing. ₹ 4 lakhs ex-gratia to be given to kin of dead”, said Khattar. He also conducted an aerial survey of the areas flooded in the state and added during a press briefing, “For the last four days, the incessant rainfall not only in Haryana but in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab has led to flood situations in some districts of the state.”
