Supreme Court asks Raghav Chadha to extend ‘unconditional apology’ to Rajya Sabha Chair

The Supreme Court has issued a directive to Raghav Chadha, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), to offer an unconditional apology to the Rajya Sabha chairman regarding his suspension from the Upper House of Parliament. This decision was made during a hearing on Friday, where Chadha’s lawyer explained that his client had no intention to undermine the dignity of the House, of which he is a member. Chadha’s lawyer also expressed the intention to seek an appointment with the Rajya Sabha Chairperson to extend an unconditional apology. The Court emphasized that this apology should be considered sympathetically by the Chairperson in light of the circumstances.
Raghav Chadha faced suspension from the Rajya Sabha on August 1, following allegations from four MPs that he had violated rules by naming them in a House panel without their consent. The Rajya Sabha passed a resolution, proposed by the leader of the House, Piyush Goyal, to suspend Chadha until the privilege committee completed its findings.

Furthermore, Singh was later arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 4, which adds another layer of complexity to the political dynamics surrounding the AAP.
