The Supreme court on Thursday supports the decision of screening the content shown on the Over The Top (OTT) platforms. Some of the movies or TV series on these platforms are pornographic, the court says.

Justice Ashok Bhushan and R.Subhash Reddy leading a bench said that people prefer watching movies or tv series on ott platforms than the traditional mediums. This way, the traditional media has become obsolete. There should be some screening on these platforms concerning the content shown.

On February 25th, the government brought about the guidelines for the social media and OTT platforms which will give equal opportunity to the different mediums ranging from digital to traditional ones.

At the same time, the business portal in the digital platform will have to go through the rules and laws of the country.

Digital media and the OTT platforms will have to provide information regarding the sources and nature of their content according to the new guidelines. In addition to that, they must share the size of the subscriber data. They must set up the grievance redressal system as well.

This is around the time when TV shows like Tandav are getting a lot of heat for their content. The Uttar Pradesh police filed a complaint against the Executive of Amazon Prime for mocking the Hindu deities and promoting Hindu Phobia.

Tandav actor Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub and the makers are looking up to the top court to give  protection for the arrest made against them.

Recently, the Supreme court heard the appeal of Aparna Purohit, the commercial head of Amazon Prime India, against the Allahabad Court for denying the anticipatory bail to her on February 25th.

The High Court stated that on numerous occasions, the show creators have a habit of ridiculing the Hindu religion to mint money. These people take full advantage of the tolerant tradition of this country.

Mukul Rohatgi, a senior lawyer appearing for Purohit, stated that his client is an employee of the company. There is no involvement of her in the making of the show whatsoever. Even though numerous cases have been filed against her.
