Protests erupt across Andhra Pradesh after the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, party calls for statewide bandh

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu into custody in relation to the Skill Development Corporation scam. Naidu was arrested in Nandyal, according to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Naidu has been remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days by the Vijayawada Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court. The court is yet to decide on the request for his house arrest, which was submitted. Meanwhile, the TDP has called for a statewide bandh in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) has extended its support to the state bandh call by TDP.

Kalyan also accused the ruling YSR Congress Party of resorting to “anti-social activities” in Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that the YSRCP government is “harassing” the opposition parties. Kalyan urged the JSP workers to participate “peacefully” in the bandh.

TDP Supporters are staging protests across various districts in the Status

TDP supporters are staging protests across various districts in the state, including West Godavari, Nellore, Chittoor, and more. They are expressing their dissent against the arrest and subsequent judicial custody of former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in a corruption case.

TDP Andhra Pradesh President K. Atchannaidu has called upon the party’s members, citizens, and civil society to actively participate in the protest and ensure its success.

Protests against the illegall arrest of Nara Chandrababu Naidu

“The Telugu Desam Party has called for a statewide bandh tomorrow, Monday (September 11) in protest against the illegal arrest of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, atrocities on the party cadre, and vengeful politics,” a press release from the party said.

The Crime Investigation Department, responsible for the arrest of TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development corporation scam case, has reported that during questioning, the former Chief Minister was uncooperative and provided vague responses. Naidu allegedly stated that he did not remember certain details or issues during the interrogation.

Chandrababu Naidu’s recent arrest on corruption charges marks the first time in his four-decade-long political career that he has faced such allegations. This development has significant implications, as it may tarnish the clean image that his supporters have long associated with the TDP. Political analysts suggest that this incident could impact the party’s reputation and perception among the public.
