Three lakh farmers who are on their way to Delhi were stopped by the Haryana Police using water cannons and tear-gas shells, evoking strong reactions from the opposition. The Congress party, which has been opposed to the farm regulation, criticized the police action against the protesting farmers stating protest is a ‘constitutional right’ and that farmers should be allowed to reach Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police too had tightened security on borders as the situation worsens and farmers head towards Delhi. Metro services in Delhi had also been cancelled from NCR regions although, CM Kejriwal said ‘let them come to Delhi knowing that he has failed in controlling COVID situation in the capital.

Not to forget, Delhi is contributing to 1/4th daily deaths of the country.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s tweet flagging the “irony” of police action against farmers marching peacefully towards Delhi as a violation of their constitutional right invited a sharp rejoinder from his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar.
In a series of tweets, Mr Khattar accused Amarinder Singh of “putting the lives of people in danger during the Coronavirus pandemic” and advised him to “avoid cheap politics”.

The Haryana Chief Minister also accused Mr Singh of inciting farmers, adding that he would “leave politics if there’ll be any trouble on the MSP (minimum support price)”.

The BJP government has also said that the leaders of Farmer unions can talk with the authorities on the issue on 3rd December so that no such protests can be stopped. But since these protests have an influence of Congress, it is unlikely that the matter is resolved easily.

After dialogue, all the farmers across the country have been assured of safety but only farmers in Congress ruled state have shown disagreement. That too the Maharashtra farmers stepped back after assurance by PM.

Not to forget there are farmers in every state of the country, not just Punjab. And the active participation of Congress in the protest has shown how the farmers have been brainwashed for mere political benefits.
