The horrific incident happened on Sunday, when Shahida herself called the 112 emergency control room in Palakkad between 3 and 4 am on Sunday and told the police that she had sacrificed her son to ‘please Allah’. When the cops arrived, the police found the child in the bathroom in a pool of blood.

According to a report by The News Minute, Shahida is three months pregnant. She is a teacher in a local madrasa, while her husband Sulaiman, a Gulf returnee, works as a driver. Her husband, along with their two other kids was sleeping in the adjoining room when Shahida killed Aamil.

Meanwhile, some neighbours claimed that she had taken the local police station’s phone number from one of them a day ago.

Shahida, who is pregnant with her 4th child, had also sustained an injury to her hand during the gruesome murder.

The police said that the murder was pre-planned and that a decision on a psychological evaluation of the accused will be taken only after the completion of the arrest procedures.

The incident comes nearly two weeks after two young sisters were allegedly murdered by their highly-educated parents in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, in what investigators said appeared to be a case related to superstition.

The superstitious couple from Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh killed their daughters, believing that they would come alive after their death. The elder daughter Alekhya (27) was pursuing her post-graduation from Bhopal, while younger daughter Sai Divya (22) was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
