UP Police arrested four people on Tuesday after they allegedly read Hanuman Chalisa and chanted Jai Shri Ram slogans at a mosque in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The four persons have been identified as Saurabh Nambardar, Raghav Mittal, Rauki and Kanha.

This development comes just days after two youths identified as Faisal Khan and Chand Mohammad performed Namaz inside the Nand Baba temple in Mathura’s Barsana while two others clicked their pictures on 29th October.

Superintendent of police, rural Mathura, Shirish Chandra was quoted as saying, “While it was claimed that the act was to promote peace, it was done in a wrongful manner. The four have been issued challans under section 151 of CrPC. No complaint has been received against them.”

In a video posted by TimesNow, one of the accused defended this act and said this was done in response to a similar incident where namaz was read in a temple.
