Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir set to welcome devotees in January

The inauguration prayer ceremony will reportedly also involve India's Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

The highly anticipated Ram Temple situated in Ayodhya, one of the holiest cities in India, is estimated to open its doors for devotees as early as January next year, according to recent reports.

Completion and Inauguration Progress

An official reportedly informed Reuters that the construction of the temple is expected to finish in December. Following this, the temple will be inaugurated to welcome the devotees for prayer in January.

The inauguration prayer ceremony will reportedly also involve India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

Updates on Construction Progress

A few days prior, visuals depicting the first floor of the temple were shared by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir institution on their official X account. The post caption aptly read, “Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir – First Floor”.

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, had personally inspected the ongoing temple construction last month. Further, he had also offered prayers to Lord Ram Lalla within the sacred premises of Ram Janamabhoomi in Ayodhya.

Significance of the Temple

On 5th August 2020, India witnessed a historic moment when PM Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi puja, marking the commencement of the construction of this monumental temple.

Months prior to this, in February 2020, PM Modi had announced the constitution of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra. This body is responsible for overseeing the construction of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

The land allotment for the temple construction found its resolution in a court ruling by a five Judge Supreme Court bench, led by the then Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, on 9th November 2019. As per the verdict, the entire disputed land spanning over 2.7 acres was handed over to a government formed trust, entrusted with the construction of the temple

Artistic Details: The Sculptures

Besides the idol of Lord Ram Lalla, which is expected to be placed at its authentic location by the following year, the temple will also house approximately 3,600 statues. These will be based on Hindu Shastras and, as per the trust’s statement on X, would be “Beautiful Statues carved on stone, based on stories from our Shastras. They will be later pasted on pillars, base and other designated places in Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, as per the construction schedule.”

While the opening of the temple is eagerly awaited by devotees nationwide, it is also viewed as a milestone in the cultural and spiritual heritage of India. Combining architectural grandeur and religious significance, Ayodhya’s Ram Temple is all set to etch its mark in history.
