Army officer killed, 3 soldiers injured in a fire incident at Siachen Glacier

The incident occurred due to a suspected short circuit. Three jawans in critical condition have been airlifted to Chandigarh for treatment, Investigation is underway.

In an unfortunate incident at Siachen Glacier, a fire broke out in an Army tent, resulting in the demise of a brave officer and leaving six others injured. The incident occurred on July 19, around 3:00 am. Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have occurred. Investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The officer who lost his life has been identified as Captain Anshuman Singh, serving as the Regimental Medical Officer and hailing from Lucknow. Tragically, he succumbed to severe burn injuries during the fire. His sacrifice highlights the immense risks faced by soldiers in such extreme conditions.

Among the six injured personnel, three are in critical condition and have been transferred to Chandigarh for advanced medical treatment. The other injured officers are reported to be in stable condition, however specific details about their injuries were not disclosed in the statement from the Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Leh.

The incident could have been even more unfortunate, as the fire threatened to reach the ammunition tent. However, the timely response and efforts of the soldiers prevented this from happening.

The harsh conditions at Siachen Glacier make such incidents even more challenging to manage. Despite these challenges, the Army personnel living there display incredible courage and dedication to their duty.
