“Protein powders may also contain added sugars, non-caloric sweeteners and additives such as artificial flavouring, hence, are not advisable for regular consumption. Proteins rich in branched-chain amino acids may increase the risk of non-communicable diseases. Consuming high levels of protein. especially in the form of supplement powders, is therefore not advisable,” said NIN quoted by The Times of India.

NIN considers earthen cookware safest as it requires very little oil and preserves all the necessary nutrition in the food. It criticized storing acidic food like chutney and pickles in metal containers such as aluminium, steel and brass as it is unsafe. It has also advised that cooking in nonstick cookware should not exceed the heat level of 170 degrees Celsius and the cookware should be discarded once the nonstick coating is damaged.
