Vikrant Massey’s ‘12th Fail’ set to conquer Chinese cinemas

This ambitious film project is set to open to 20,000 screens in China, where it is expected to bridge cultural divides and fascinate viewers in China

Bollywood star Vikrant Massey‘s most recent movie, 12th Fail, is about to have a huge impact on the Chinese film market. This ambitious film project is set to open to 20,000 screens in China, where it is expected to bridge cultural divides and fascinate viewers in China.

The renowned director Vidhu Vinod Chopra explores the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in his film 12th Fail. The narrative explores themes of resiliency, determination, and the quest for justice while taking place against the backdrop of India’s educational system. Known for his range of acting roles, Vikrant Massey assumes the role of the main character, giving it depth and authenticity.

“It is too soon to talk about that, but I am really excited because, after a long time, something like this has happened. It has been in the works for a few months, but finally the news is out, and everyone knows that the film is releasing in China. There is a huge demand for Hindi cinema or Indian cinema in China,” Vikrant told to India Today.

12th Fail follows the footsteps of another Bollywood blockbuster, Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Dangal, which was released in 2016, captivated crowds and broke records in China. Due to the movie’s success, Aamir Khan personally visited China to promote it, and more Indian movies are now exploring the Chinese market. Vikrant Massey is now trying to duplicate that accomplishment eight years later.

The crew of the movie, including Vikrant Massey, will go on a promotional tour of some of the biggest cities in China.

The most recent Indian film to grace Chinese screens was “Chhichhore”. Directed and co-written by Nitesh Tiwari, the same filmmaker behind the unexpected smash hit “Dangal” starring Aamir Khan in 2017, Chhichhore made its way to Chinese theaters in January 2022.
