Singer Shubh’s concerts cancelled, Virat Kohli’s unfollows him and boAt withdraws support

Shubh’s Still Rollin Tour for India has been cancelled and BookMyShow has initiated a complete refund of the ticket amount for all consumers who had purchased tickets for the show.

Popular Canada-based artist, Shubhneet Singh, popularly known as Shubh has recently come under criticism for expressing support for the Khalistan movement. India’s relationship with Canada has been on edge following the recent incident involving Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Amidst this strained relationship, Shubh’s recent social media post supporting the Khalistan movement has fanned the flames.

Shubh’s India Concert and Its Controversy

Shubhneet , known for hit tracks like ‘No Love’, ‘Cheques,’ ‘Offshore,’ ‘Elevated,’ ‘Baller’, and ‘We Rollin’, has scheduled concert dates in Mumbai from September 23-25, as a part of the ‘Cruise Control 4.0’ event. However, this concert was creating a stir due to a recent backlash over Shubh’s controversial social media posts. Shubh’s Still Rollin Tour for India has been cancelled and BookMyShow has initiated a complete refund of the ticket amount for all consumers who had purchased tickets for the show.

  1. Bharatiya Janata Party Youth Wing (BJYM)’s Optimism: The BJYM has taken down promotional posters of upcoming Mumbai concert, citing the singer’s support for the Khalistan movement on social media. They have even submitted a memorandum to the Mumbai Police Commissioner demanding performances cancellation and a strict action against the singer.
  2. Distorted Map Controversy: The youth wing alleges that had posted a distorted map of India, excluding Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, on his social media account. This has led to condemnation from many Indian citizens.

“Shubhneet posted a map of India without Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab on his Instagram account, and another post under the name “Pray for Punjab,” stated BJYM President Tajinder Singh Tiwana.

Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya unfollow Shubh

Shubhneet controversial posts also led to a ripple effect among India’s cricket community. Virat Kohli, who had earlier praised as his favorite artist, along with teammates KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Suresh Raina, have all unfollowed him on Instagram.

boAt Withdraws Sponsorship

Consumer electronics company boAt has also removed its sponsorship for upcoming tour to India, due to certain objectionable remarks made by the artist earlier this year.

“At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first and foremost a true Indian brand. Therefore, when we became aware of the remarks made by earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour,” the company announced on a social media platform.

Bookmyshow Faces Heat on X

As the call for cancelling Shubh’s concerts grow, ticketing platform Bookmyshow is under fire for continuing to sell the concert tickets. The hashtag #UninstallBookMyShow is trending on social media platforms, with users accusing the platform of funding a Khalistani activist.
