Government to issue ‘Skill India Passport’ for tech students soon

It aims to revolutionise prospects for skilled youth seeking global employment, willl bridge the tech-education gaps.

For the first time ever, India is set to launch the Skill India Passport, a transformative document that will revolutionise the prospects of skilled youth seeking employment abroad. This innovative passport will not only open doors to new horizons but also showcase their specialised training through certification. It is a game-changer for our talented workforce!

The digital economy has paved the way for exciting job possibilities, with technologies like Blockchain, Big Data, and IoT shaping the global landscape. In particular, the demand for data experts has surged, both within India and across the globe.

While this holds immense promise, some experts worry that such technology-focused courses have remained largely confined to metro cities. Dr. Manisha Joshi, Dean of IILM University, points to limited resources, inflexibility, and financial constraints that hinder access to these opportunities for those in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

However, the government is taking steps to bridge this gap. Skill development centres are being established in smaller towns to cater to students from remote areas. Moreover, 30 Skill India international centers are on the horizon, issuing the Skill India Passport. These centers will equip the youth with the necessary skills to seize employment prospects abroad, with 24 national skill training institutes and six skill development institutes serving as anchors for this transformative initiative.

To further strengthen their global employability, the Ministry of Skill Development has formed agreements with countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, and more, fostering training, assessment, and recruitment collaborations.

But it’s not just about the metros. Skill hubs are growing across the nation to provide vocational training and skill development opportunities to students from a young age. This enables them to comprehend industry demands and adapt to technological advancements early on.

According to Dr. Devinder Narang, Director of Jaipuria Institute of Management, keeping pace with technological transformations is vital in providing our youth with the right skills. The government, along with educational institutions, is strongly advocating for apprenticeship and vocational training programs that cater to industry needs.

With the Skill India Passport and numerous skill development initiatives, India’s skilled youth are all set to conquer the global job market. Bridging tech-education gaps and embracing innovations empowers India’s skilled youth. Skill India Passport paves the way for a brighter, prosperous future, and driving talents for global success. Exciting possibilities await!
