A new controversy has come into light after Saudi Arabia’s first male robot sexually harassed a female reporter after the robot touched the reporter inappropriately on live TV. The robot, Android Mohammed, was launched during the second edition of DeepFast in Riyadh.

In a 7 second video which has been share online, shows the robot standing behind a TV reporter, Rawaiya Al-Qasimi and moving his hand moving which touched the reporter, which the people on the people on the internet have been calling inappropriate. People have also called this sexual harassment as the reporter’s uncomfortable expressions were quite clearly visible.

Many people claimed that the incident could be a result of a flaw in its programming. However, a majority of people ended up turning it into a controversy because they believed the robot ‘harassed’ the woman.

The clip was posted on the social media platform X (Formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘TansuYegen’ on March 5, 2024. The share was captioned, “Saudi Robots were announced today.”

The post took social media by storm, leaving viewers stunned. In no time, online users took to the comments section and flooded it with varied reactions. While some people found the robot’s movement as natural, others hought it to be wrong and regarded it as ‘ever-teasing’, and ‘harassment.’ “That’s the natural movement of his hands, but she was pretty close to him, so that’s why she was touched,” a user commented.

Adding a tweak of humour, an individual quipped, “What are these Saudi Robots capable of?”

“That is still harassment, on the part of whoever programs that robot or with whoever controls it,” another user wrote.

An account remarked, “The robot programmed in this way, she stood at the wrong spot.”

Till now, the video has been viewed by more than 189,000 viewers, and undoubtedly, the numbers are still increasing.
