Kim Jong Un threatens nuclear warfare if North Korea is provoked

The announcement comes only days after North Korea conducted an intercontinental ballistic missile test.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has threatened a nuclear assault. The Supreme Leader has said that if any adversary provokes the DPRK with nuclear weapons, Pyongyang would not hesitate to launch a nuclear attack.

Kim made the comment while meeting with soldiers from the military’s missile agency, according to official media KCNA. The announcements came only days after North Korea conducted an intercontinental ballistic missile test.

“He (Kim) said that the resolute military activity conducted by the company this time … was … a clear explanation of the offensive counteraction mode and the evolution of the nuclear strategy and doctrine of the DPRK not to hesitate even a nuclear attack when the enemy provokes it with nukes,” the Korean Central News Agency reported.

Growing hostility from the US

North Korea announced earlier this week that it has launched its newest ICBM to examine the preparedness of its arsenal, particularly in light of growing hostility from the US and its allies.

According to the North Korean leader, the ICBM launch displayed the “military’s high mobility and rapid attack capability.” The commander also called for more efforts to improve combat efficiency.

Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un’s sister, also denounced the UN Security Council for convening to discuss the North Korean ICBM test. Yo Jong criticized the UN Security Council meeting, citing North Korea’s right to self-defense.

“The UNSC should place heavy responsibility on the irresponsible behavior and act of the US and the ROK (South Korea), which have aggravated the tension on the Korean peninsula through all sorts of military provocations all year round,” Kim said.
