Apple to hire 5 lakh employees in India over the next three years to boost India production: Report

In an attempt to increase production growth, Apple aims to raise its output by five times in India to around $40 billion, or 3.32 lakh crore rupees, in the next four to five years

Apple is on track to significantly expand its workforce in India, with plans to hire half a million people over the next three years as it increases production capacity. Government officials have indicated that Apple’s current manufacturing network in India includes over 150,000 workers, with significant employment in Tata Electronics-operated facilities. Last year marked the opening of Apple’s inaugural retail locations in India, named Saket and BKC.

A government representative has stated that Apple’s recruitment drive in India is picking up pace, with an estimated half a million jobs expected to be created through its network of suppliers and vendors within three years.

Counterpoint Research highlights that It has achieved the highest revenue in the Indian market for the first time in 2023, surpassing Samsung in revenue, although Samsung still leads in sales volume. Additionally, It has reached a new milestone by shipping over $10 million units and leading in annual revenue for the first time.

Furthermore, it exports from India soared to $12.1 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24, doubling from $6.27 billion the previous year, as reported by The Trade Vision.

In the previous year, Apple inaugurated a new Bengaluru office with 1,200 staff members, complementing its existing offices in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gurugram.

Apple is working on an AI project

Looking ahead, it is reportedly developing a sophisticated artificial intelligence project, specifically a large language model for integration into its products. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that this initiative is part of Apple’s venture into ambitious projects like augmented reality glasses and personal robots, with a focus on embedding the AI model in its products to enhance privacy.
