Just a day after the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust extended the invitation to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the grand Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh (UP)’s Ayodhya, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar tried to pass a jibe on the development.

“Eradication of the coronavirus is the priority of the Maharashtra government, but some people think that coronavirus will go away after temple is constructed,” Pawar told reporters in Solapur. “That’s why they would have organised the programme. I am only getting to know about this from you people.”

The lockdown has created an economic crisis and we want to request the State and Central government to pay attention to the issue,” added Pawar.

The foundation laying ceremony for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya is likely to be held in the first week of August.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the Bhoomi Poojan’ ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5.

Sources also stated that the prayers and other rituals related to the ‘Bhoomi Poojan’ ceremony of Ram temple will begin at 8 AM on August 5.

While the temple construction ceremony was supposed to be celebrated with many Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and other important dignitaries in attendance, the list of attendees after COVID-19 spread is likely to have only Prime Minister Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and a few Ministers and MPs from the region.

The members of temple trust mandated by the Supreme Court stated that while the programme of ‘Shilanyas’ has been done at ‘Singh dwara’, it was not a proper ceremony.
