Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a council of ministers meeting on Sunday, strategizing for the next five years to realize the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision if the NDA secures victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May 2024. The meeting deliberated on a 100-day action plan for immediate steps following the formation of a new government in May, focusing on the NDA’s comprehensive five-year plan.
Officials familiar with the day-long exercise revealed that the roadmap for “Viksit Bharat” resulted from over two years of thorough preparation, involving a holistic approach across all ministries. The plan incorporated extensive consultations with state governments, academia, industry bodies, civil society, scientific organizations, and the engagement of youth for input.
The March 3 council of ministers meeting is anticipated to be the final one before the Lok Sabha elections, with the NDA expressing strong confidence in securing a decisive majority. The Viksit Bharat vision, a central theme in PM Modi’s recent speeches, envisions transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years since gaining independence from British rule.
During the Sunday meeting, Modi discussed the roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047, outlining national goals, aims, and action points for the next five years. The focus of the vision encompasses economic growth, sustainable development goals, ease of living, ease of doing business, infrastructure development, and social welfare.
PM Modi has emphasized that the Viksit Bharat vision aims to enable every citizen to participate in the economy actively. A significant aspect of the action plan is the goal of positioning India as the world’s third-largest economy over the next five years, contingent on the NDA’s return to power.
In anticipation of the general elections, the BJP unveiled its first list of 195 candidates, featuring prominent figures such as PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The list highlights diversity with 28 women, 27 scheduled caste candidates, 18 from scheduled tribes, and 57 from other backward classes (OBCs).
