PM Modi identifies Article 370 as primary barrier to Jammu and Kashmir’s progress
He emphasized the government's aim to ensure the welfare of all citizens, transcending the interests of a select few
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of revoking Article 370, which previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that this decision has enabled balanced development across the region, addressing longstanding obstacles to progress.
Modi asserted that the removal of Article 370 has transformed governance in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing for direct engagement with the people and effective delivery of their needs. He assured that this commitment to grassroots empowerment will continue.
The Prime Minister underlined that eliminating Article 370 was crucial in overcoming barriers to holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the government’s aim to ensure the welfare of all citizens, transcending the interests of a select few.
Modi expressed satisfaction in witnessing the transition from dynastic rule to a more inclusive governance model in Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that a developed India relies on the progress and prosperity of regions like Jammu and Kashmir.
Post-abrogation, the common people of Jammu and Kashmir received assurances of social justice enshrined in the Constitution, marking a significant milestone in their empowerment and inclusion within the national framework.
The Prime Minister noted the growing global enthusiasm surrounding the developmental initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the region’s potential as a hub of progress and prosperity. Modi commemorated the launch of several landmark projects aimed at fostering holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir, spanning various sectors including education, transportation, and infrastructure.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to education by noting the establishment of a record number of schools, colleges, and universities across India, with a notable emphasis on expanding educational opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir.
As part of the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu’ program, Modi interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes, reaffirming the government’s commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of the people at the grassroots level.
The Prime Minister also distributed appointment letters to approximately 1,500 newly recruited government employees in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting efforts to enhance employment opportunities and socioeconomic inclusion in the region.
