‘India’s inflation lowest under BJP’ says Congress indirectly in a tweet comparing food prices of 2014-21, later deleted

Calling Food grains a ‘luxury’, Congress wanted to lash out at BJP but apparently, their comparison backfired when only Rs. 5-10 difference was shown between then & now prices in their graphics.

The official twitter account of the Congress party yesterday (8 April) trying to take a jibe at the current government for the rising prices of food grains ended up crediting the BJP for low inflation rates during its rule.

In the tweet Congress alleged that the middle class is barely able to afford food under the current regime and attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for claiming the arrival of Acche Din.

In the accompanying infographic the Congress made a comparative analysis of current food prices in Delhi with the ones purportedly prevalent during the end of UPA-2 rule in April 2014.

Minutes after posting, the users started to point out how this is the lowest ever rise in food grains and that if only Congress government took care of it, they would have been in power in 2021.

After seeing the tweet backfire, Congress IT Cell deleted the tweet as they couldn’t even take up criticism of their own mistake or can we say they couldn’t accept the reality?

The Inflation in India although currently on the rise is still on the lower side when compared to previous governments and RBI has also forecasted FY21’s CPI Inflation Index to be about 5% or lower which again depends on the fuel prices which are currently creating the main problem.

The only lifestyle sector that has seen major inflation under BJP can be noted as the fuel & Gas prices, and the prices of luxury goods as hefty amount of taxes are levied on it when products are imported from foreign countries.
