A day after more than 20 Congress MLAs in Rajasthan accused the opposition BJP of trying to bring down the Ashok Gehlot-led government, terming the allegations completely baseless, Rajasthan BJP President Satish Punia said Ashok Gehlot is a cunning politician and he is trying to blame the saffron party for his failure in governance.

The Rajasthan police has issued notices to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot to record their statement in connection with the alleged attempts to “topple” their Congress government, sources said today.

“We have clear information that top leaders of the BJP are involved in this conspiracy, who are contacting Congress MLAs and trying to misguide them by luring them in various ways. But the Congress in the state and all the MLAs who support it will not let their efforts to succeed,” the MLAs said in the joint statement.

“The government in Rajasthan is stable, will remain stable and will last five years,” Gehlot said, and alleged that Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore and BJP state president Satish Poonia were executing the agenda of their party’s central leadership.

“Amid the crisis posed by the coronavirus pandemic, BJP leaders have gone beyond humanity and are engaged in toppling the government,” the chief minister said.

The MLAs although exuded confidence that the Congress government in the state will complete its five-year-term as well as form the government in 2023 after winning the state Assembly elections, keeping in mind the previous attempts of BJP, they have never let the efforts go in vain.

Even in the recent past, be it Karnataka or Madhya Pradesh, the Centre ruling party does not seem to backout as they eye the washout of Congress from all states.
