Rakesh Tikait alleges corruption by government in crop procurement on MSP

In the MSP procurement in Rampur, out of 26,000 farmers, 11,000 farmers were fake, Rakesh Tikait claimed in a press conference on Thursday.

Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, who is agitating against the three new agricultural laws of the central government, made a big allegation of corruption in the purchase of farmers’ crops on the minimum support price.

In a press conference from the Ghazipur (Delhi-Uttar Pradesh) border, Rakesh Tikait said that in Rampur, 11 thousand farmers were shown as fake sharecroppers in the purchase of crops from 26 thousand farmers.

He said that millers, middlemen and government officials looted heavily during the purchase on MSP in Rampur. In the press conference, he alleged that the land of actress Jaya Prada’s school in Rampur was bought from there by showing cultivation. Rakesh Tikait has said that the entire matter is documented. He has also demanded a CBI inquiry from the government.

Meanwhile, Rakesh Tikait also said that he would expose similar frauds in other districts apart from Rampur. Along with this, now the Bharatiya Kisan Union will also raise this issue in the UP Mission regarding the whole matter. In the entire press conference, Rakesh Tikait appeared aggressive alleging corruption in the matter of crop purchase.

In a written reply responding to the question of CPI MP Binoy Viswam on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that “183 people have been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the farmers’ protest since 2020 (upto July 20, 2021) and all of them are on bail.”

Meanwhile, protesting farmers would observe Independence Day as ‘Kisan Mazdoor Azadi Sangram Diwas’ and would take out Tiranga marches across the country, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced.
