Lucknow mayor calls bulldozer at a hospital over shoe removal request

The BJP Mayor of Lucknow city called a bulldozer at a hospital just because the staff asked her to remove shoes outside the Intensive Care Unit(ICU).

The Mayor of Lucknow City called a bulldozer after getting annoyed over being asked to remove her shoes outside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital. The request to remove her shoes before entering the Intensive Care Unit turned into a heated argument between the BJP Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and the hospital administration. The mayor visited the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital on Monday when the incident occurred.

As their argument escalated, she instructed the enforcement team of the municipal corporation to reach there with a bulldozer to demolish the hospital. However, the matter was later resolved after police reached the spot and intervened.

“The mayor and her colleagues attempted to enter the ICU wearing shoes, which the staff objected to”, the hospital administration said.

Mayor Sushma Kharakwal of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) was visiting with her supporter the city’s Vinayak Medicare to meet Suren Kumar, a retired soldier from the Army Brigade of the Municipal Corporation, who was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital located in Thana Bijnaur in Lucknow.

However, hospital director Mudrika Singh termed the reports of an argument between the staff and the city mayor ‘false’. Talking to the reporter, the hospital director said the mayor had visited the hospital and interacted with doctors. “There was no altercation between them,” Mudrika Singh said.

“Media and social platforms are circulating misleading news regarding the meeting between the mayor and the doctors. These claims are completely unfounded and should not be propagated,” Singh added.
